How I Restored My Hair Line Naturally

Hair loss is mainly caused by the receding front hairline and the loss of hair on the crown of the head. In men, it occurs as a receding hairline or a combination of both, it's caused by a combination of genetics and the circulating androgens, namely dihydrotestosterone (DHT). If you started experiencing thinning hair/ hairline, keep reading...

My experience

I started noticing my hairline receding when I was 22 years old (I'm 25 currently). I thought I was going bald and felt self-conscious. But soon afterward, I started doing research and figuring out ways to mask it. Common signs and symptoms I noticed as well as other men were: beginning to recede at the temples to the vertex of the head, this will differ genetically. It is referred to as a Hippocratic wreath and rarely completes baldness.

Different stages of Hair Loss

The Norwood scale helps identify the stages of male pattern hair loss. It also helps people manage the different stages of the condition. The James Hamilton scale was introduced in the 1950s. It measured the stages of male pattern baldness. For example, a Norwood 1 is someone who is not experiencing or showing any signs of male pattern baldness and Norwood 6/7 is almost completely bold, this will differ and set at different stages of maturity and age.

Treatments for hair loss

There are many solutions available for male pattern baldness. Most treatment options have the best success rates when the hair loss is in its earliest stages.

Those who begin treating hair loss in its later stages may only benefit from some of the stronger treatment options, such as a hair transplant.

Minoxidil

Minoxidil (Rogaine) is a medication that's applied directly to the scalp. It is available in the form of a foam and a liquid solution, which makes application fairly simple. Minoxidil may help thicken the hairs and promote hair growth on the scalp. Using the foam version is preferred in many men who will suffer side effects from the liquid solution such as itchy and flaky scalp caused by dandruff build-up. Note, it can take some time for the results to become obvious, 3-6 months of consistency.

Finasteride

Finasteride (Propecia) is a prescription drug that doctors recommend for significant or early stages of hair loss, It's being approved by The Food and Drug Administration (FDA). I've been taking 1mg of Propecia a day for the last 2 years in order to achieve and maintain my results.

Microneedling

Microneedling uses a device containing hundreds of tiny needles to penetrate the skin and stimulate hair growth. It is best to work directly with a dermatologist to determine whether or not microneedling will be helpful. However, I've started doing this at home using a derma roller which is a safer method of doing it yourself. It's best to start with a 0.25mm roller and go from there, frequency, derma roller type, results will have to be adjusted over time.

There has also been some research trusted Source into including platelet-rich plasma in the procedure of microneedling to further improve hair growth. This method can only be done at a dermatologist which can be costly.

Tips for natural hair growth

Aside from the procedures and medications listed above, there are a number of things a person can do to promote healthy hair growth, I've also incorporated these when I first started noticing hair loss, these include:

  • Eating a healthful diet: Eating a healthful diet that includes a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, and iron-rich foods ensures that the body gets all the nutrients it needs.

  • Using a hair loss shampoo: Some shampoos contain ingredients designed to help remove dandruff and other particles from the pores. This may help keep the pores clear and prevent blockages that could influence hair loss.

  • Stopping smoking: An older studyTrusted Source suggests that there could be a link between smoking and hair loss.

  • Avoiding coloring or treating the hair with chemicals: Chemicals may make the hair weaker and more prone to breakage and thinning.

Balding and hair loss are very common, especially as we get older. There are a number of treatment options available to help treat male pattern baldness, and the results of each can vary from person to person. If you could change something to be more confident, look younger and attractive, why wouldn’t you? 🙋🏽‍♂️⁣

Good healthy hair Matters!
